Bottle Babies

On January 5, 2009 we received an email about a stray momma dog that had 12 puppies during the cold weekend of January 3-4. This momma dog was dumped during the summer months of 2008 with the rest of the litter mates, but she was never able to be caught. As a result, she had a litter of puppies.

By the time we received the note, the situation was dire. The individuals who were trying to help save the babies, were looking for someone to help. We telephoned one of the rescuers to find out how we could help. Once we found out only four of the twelve puppies were alive, we made arrangements to pick up the puppies that night. One of our volunteers drove out during the night to meet one of the rescuers to pick up the surviving puppies. Once she got them home, she started bottle feeding the babies. Even though she works full time, she woke up every two hours to feed the babies. That first week was very critical to their survival.

We are proud to say, all the puppies survived and are very healthy. All have been adopted out to very good families. We appreciate all the hard work of the rescuers and our foster moms to save the life of the puppies. The puppies deserved a chance to live and through the effort of everyone involved, they got their chance.
