Hedgehog in Daycare?

A member of a nonprofit group that
works with children met one of our volunteers at a training course.
During a discussion between the two, the individuals who
volunteered with the daycare facility were concerned about a pet
that was donated to them. The pet was a hedgehog which is
nocturnal. They knew the pet was not comfortable in that
environment, but didn’t know who to contact about finding it
another home. After a phone call to one of our volunteers, we found
a good home for the hedgehog.
Exposing different types of pets to children is a great learning experience for children, but the pet must be comfortable in the environment. When choosing a pet, especially an exotic pet, research and fully understand the needs of the pet before adding it to the family.
