Born Deaf

We need your help with two of our foster pets. Four pups were abandoned in the country and a very nice lady took the pups in to keep them safe. Partnering for Pets, Inc. took the pups in to help find homes for them.

We recently discovered that two of the pups are deaf. Sassy and Blonde are deaf puppies. They are very sweet dogs and adjust to their surroundings very easily. That is one reason we didn't pick up on them being deaf.

These two pups will need a special home. They will need to be kept indoors and will need to have a securely fenced yard.

If you know anyone that would open their heart to adopt one of these pups, please have them contact us.

Please spay and neuter

Please spay and neuter your pets. Since Thanksgiving, we have been hit with several calls from individuals needing to find home for unwanted puppies. Due to the economy, adoptions have been slow and many of these puppies will not find a home.

If your household income is under $35,000 per year, you may qualify for low cost spay/neuter. Various organizations provide this service, such as SpayOK.

Hedgehog in Daycare?

A member of a nonprofit group that works with children met one of our volunteers at a training course. During a discussion between the two, the individuals who volunteered with the daycare facility were concerned about a pet that was donated to them. The pet was a hedgehog which is nocturnal. They knew the pet was not comfortable in that environment, but didn’t know who to contact about finding it another home. After a phone call to one of our volunteers, we found a good home for the hedgehog.

Exposing different types of pets to children is a great learning experience for children, but the pet must be comfortable in the environment. When choosing a pet, especially an exotic pet, research and fully understand the needs of the pet before adding it to the family.

How pets help heal

The loss of a loved one is difficult for anyone, but the loss of an unborn child can be unbearable. We recently helped a woman who had lost her unborn child. She was having a difficult time with the loss and her doctor recommended she get a pet. She was interested in a very energetic dog we had for adoption. She was interested in this pet, since she had a similar breed when she was a child. After some discussion, we agreed the dog may be too much for her at this time and recommended adopting a cat instead. After looking at the kitties available for adoption, she found one that really grabbed her heart. Her face light up and for that moment, the pain was gone. We will continue to follow her progress and hope the kitty can help heal the pain.
